From the Betoota Advocate to Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, Australian news has no shortage of satire.
However, we also boast one of the most obscure news cycles in the world. With onion-chomping Prime Ministers and obscure newspapers such as the Northern Territory Times and Daily Telegraph, the satire can sometimes feel more authentic than the reality.
When we were visited by the satirical masterminds behind The Onion last year, we decided to quiz them on which Aussie headlines were real, and which were too bizarre, even for us.
