This 1997 instructional video teaches you how to have (awkward) cybersex (NSFW)

Back in the late ’90s, the Internet was an innocent place where people logged on to Ask Jeeves, research and checked their mail on AOL. Well, that’s what we’d like to think anyway. But even back in the ’90s — 1997 to be exact — people were using it for all sorts of naughty stuff. Like cybering.

The concept of cybersex was relatively new back in 1997, so in order to teach people how to do it correctly (yup!), an instructional video was made. And it was made in the most awkwardly cheesy way. Really, there should be a warning before watching this, because I feel awkward just writing about it.

Here’s what Nick Prueher of The Found Footage Festival had to say about the VHS find: ‘This is a very real instructional video that [we] dug up in a thrift store in Minnesota recently. It comes from 1997, a simpler time before sexting and SnapChat, when the secrets to cybersex could only be unlocked with a VHS how-to video. We can’t decide whether it’s trying to be informational or sexy but it succeeds at neither. One thing is certain: tedium has never been this topless!’

Oh yeah, and about that topless comment. Oh, nevermind — watch and see for yourself.
