This is the LeBron interview that set Trump off
Ah, basketballers and presidents – the classic rivalry.
United States President Donald Trump was scathing of NBA star LeBron James after the new LA Laker’s interview with CNN reporter Don Lemon.
Trump took aim at the pair in a tweet, referring to Lemon as “the dumbest man on television” who made “Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do”.
The commander-in-chief finished the tweet announcing, “I like Mike!” – a reference to the perennial debate among basketball fans over who is the greatest to have ever played the game, with James often compared to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
The CNN interview largely focussed on James opening an eight million dollar (US) public school to help at-risk students, which has seen the four-time NBA MVP praised by many, including – hilariously – Trump’s wife, Melania.
Off the back of Trump’s comment, Jordan has since through a spokesperson said he supports James, praising his efforts.
