Stan Lee’s latest unlikely cameo
Cake artist Erandeny Cuevas creates incredibly detailed cakes that look like the real thing. And this one is entirely edible.
Cuevas explains on her Facebook that when it comes to cake art, some pieces are more edible than others. Inedible structural elements are sometimes used because they’re non-perishable, which is ideal for displays.
In this case, however, Erandeny Cuevas has gone all out and created this piece using isomalt, modelling chocolate, wafer paper and fondant.
This was her contribution to Cake Con International. Inspired by San Diego Comic Con, Mayra Prado Estrada and Cassandra Rice conceived the idea of Cake Con International in 2015.
It’s now a fantastic collaboration between a number of cake/sugar artists that merges their love of geek and pop culture with their passion and flair for cake artistry.
In 2017 they had a booth at Cake and Bake Germany and then earlier this year became the first collaboration ever to display edible art inspired by comics at Wonder Con.
Details for what’s to come in 2019 is top secret at the moment, but it’s expected to be their biggest year yet.
