Waleed Aly calls BS on the Kardashian-influenced Trump pardon
It was widely publicised last week that Kim Kardashian visited the white house and had a chat with President Trump.
The meeting attracted a wave of criticism, especially because it was reported that Kardashian and Trump were discussing prison reform. Many detractors on social media couldn’t comprehend why a celebrity has any place discussing such an issue with the president.
The following Wednesday, after spending over 20 years in prison, Alice Marie Johnson was handed a pardon from President Trump. Johnson had been convicted in her first drug offence, and after seeing a story about her, Kardashian decided to take action.
Although the story is a positive one, Waleed Aly criticised the haphazard nature of Trump’s decision-making.
