Watch the insane test rocket launch that brought us one step closer to space tourism
Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin has successfully launched its suborbital space rocket, New Shepard, in an impressive test mission.
The rocket blasted off on the morning of July 18 at Blue Origin’s West Texas site, with more than 20,000 people tuning in via a YouTube live stream.
The objective of the 11-minute launch mission was to conduct a separation test of its crew capsule and rocket booster. Once the booster separated, the capsule’s escape motor fired, lifting the spacecraft to an altitude of 389,846 feet.
Blue Origin said that with this successful launch they’re one step closer to bringing space travel and commercial payloads to the public. However, the company is yet to announce exactly when you’ll be able to take that dream trip to space.
